LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Monday night around 7:39 p.m., Longview Police were dispatched to a blocking accident in the 700 block of East Marshall Avenue.

When officers arrived they found several cars that had been struck by the suspect's car. The suspect, later identified as Jose Sifuentes, 28 of Longview, fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

Officers located the car a short time later and attempted to stop the car. Officers deployed a spike strip and Sifuentes ran over it. During the attempt to stop the suspect's car, Sifuentes struck a Longview Police Officer.

The officer then shot Sifuentes. Both Sifuentes and the officer were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center. The officer was treated and released from the hospital. Sifuentes later died from his injuries.

The case remains under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
