Update: More power outages, debris across East Texas

Update:  According to Oncor's website, as of 9:07pm, there were 8, 600 customers in East Texas without power.

-3,550 in Tyler

-2,800 Palestine

-1,500 Jacksonville

-750 Athens

 

AEP Swepco is reporting 8,740 outages in Gregg County.

 


 

UPDATE: The National Weather Service says there is a report of a barn in Troup that had its roof peeled off by thunderstorm winds.

The agency is also reported numerous downed trees in the Panola County community of Deadwood.


 

UPDATE: 

According to Oncor, as of 7:23 p.m., there were 3,511 customers in Smith County without power

The Smith County numbers break down to: 1,205 customers southwest of the Toll 49/U.S. 69 interchange; 856 customers in the Flint/Gresham area; 481 customers in the Noonday area; 148 customers in New Chapel Hill; 123 customers in Arp; 107 customers in Whitehouse; 66 customers near Chandler; 52 customers in Hideaway; 31 customers along Lake Palestine; 19 customers in Troup; and, 11 customers in Bullard.

 


 

 

UPDATE: According to Oncor, as of 6:53 p.m., there were 2,626 customers in Smith County, and 516 customers in Henderson County without power.

AEP SWEPCO says there are 4,368 customers in Gregg County, 809 customers in Rusk County, 531 customers in Harrison County, 254 customers in Upshur County, 132 customers in Wood County and 125 customers in Morris County without power.

The National Weather Service is reporting trees down in Gregg and Harrison counties, and power lines down along U.S. 79 near Jacksonville in Cherokee County.

 


 

 

UPDATE: According to NorthEast Texas Scanner, Mount Pleasant Fire Department is on the scene of an 18-wheeler trailer fire at the city's Pilgrim's Pride plant. Firefighters are reporting that smoke can be seen coming out of the back end of the refrigerated box trailer.

It is not known at this time whether the fire is weather-related.


 

UPDATE: AEP SWEPCO is reporting that more than half of its Gregg County customers who were without power less than thirty minutes ago have had power restored. But Oncor has different news in Smith County.

Oncor says there are more than 2,400 customers without power in Smith County. That's more than 900 additional customers in the dark over the past twenty minutes.

SWEPCO says there are just under 2,600 customers without power in Gregg County at 6:30 p.m., compared to more than 5,600 customers shortly after 6 p.m. Other outages include 697 customers in Rusk County; 295 customers in Harrison County; 192 customers in Upshur County; 125 customers in Wood County; and, 123 customers in Morris County.

 

 


 

 

UPDATE: The National Weather Service is reported downed power lines on Eastman Road and Hawkins Parkway in northern Longview, and numerous trees down throughout Smith County. Multiple trees are also down on Texas 154 in the Harrison County community of Nesbitt.

The latest power outage numbers as of 6:20 are as follows:

According to Oncor, 1,516 customers without power in Smith County; 342 in Henderson County. According to SWEPCO: 5,605 customers in Gregg County; 1,244 in Harrison County; 691 in Rusk County; 331 in Upshur County.

 


 

 

UPDATE: Firefighters from three different departments are on the scene of a barn fire in Franklin County.

Volunteer firefighters in Mount Vernon, South Franklin and Purley are battling the fire, according to NorthEast Texas Scanner, an online source for scanner reports in the area.

 


 

UPDATE: Nearly one in 10 electric customers in Gregg County are without power, according to SWEPCO.

As of 6 p.m., there are 5,174 customers in Gregg County; 1,001 customers in Harrison County; and 179 customers in Upshur County without power, SWEPCO reports. There are more than 57,000 SWEPCO customers in Gregg County.

Oncor says there are 204 customers without power in Van; 156 customers in Tyler; 335 customers in Paris; and, 134 customers in Sulphur Springs.

 


 

 

UPDATE: AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. is reporting more than 2,000 power outages across East Texas.

According to SWEPCO, the numbers of customers without power include: 1,679 customers in Gregg County; 979 customers in Harrison County; 510 customers in Bowie County; 176 customers in Franklin County; 157 customers in Upshur County; and 109 customers in Cass County.


 

 

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Thunderstorm, wind, hail and a funnel cloud have already been reported in northeast Texas this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

In Camp County, emergency management officials have told the weather service that thunderstorm wind damage has felled power lines and trees along Texas 11, and caused a tree to fall on a house.

So far, a funnel cloud was spotted in New Boston at 2:17 this afternoon; and hail up to an inch in diameter has been reported 12 miles north of Mount Pleasant and about eight miles south of Detroit in Red River County.

A tree is also reported down on U.S. 69 in Mineola, according to the weather service.

AEP Southwestern Electric Power Co. is reporting 176 homes and businesses in Franklin County without power, and more than 200 customers in Bowie County without power.

Oncor is reporting more than 400 customers in Hopkins County without power; and smaller numbers of outages in Commerce and Lamar County.
