UPDATE: HOUSTON (KHOU) -- An Amber Alert issued Wednesday morning for an 18-month-old boy who was taken from his mother by his biological father has been canceled.  Luke Towner has been found.

The sheriff's office said Luke's father, Cody Towner, assaulted the mother and took him on Monday, May 20 from the Crown Plaza Hotel along the Southwest Freeway.    He also allegedly stole a four-door 1998 tan Ford F150 truck when he fled with the toddler.

Criminal records show Cody Towner has a history of violence, and the Harris County Sheriff's Office said he threatened to kill himself and the child, but Luke was found safe Wednesday afternoon.  Cody Towner was arrested on the ferry in Galveston.

It was not clear why the Amber Alert was issued two days after the alleged kidnapping.
