Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - A new report advises pediatricians to evaluate children with possible motor delays during checkups at 9, 18 and 30 months.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends doctors observe children rolling over, crawling, walking and grasping objects.

If any problems are detected, the children should be referred to early intervention or special resources.

(CBS) - Researchers say genes could play a part in how long toddlers sleep at night.

They evaluated information on about 1,000 Canadian twins- born between 1995 and 1998.

They found genes greatly influenced the children's sleep patterns at night especially for short sleepers.

When it came to daytime naps.. environmental factors had a bigger influence.

(CBS) - Heart failure patients who are admitted in January, on Friday and overnight have a higher risk of dying.

The study examined nearly one million patients who were admitted into New York hospitals over 14 years.

Researchers say staffing levels may contribute to the findings.
