Sales tax revenues positive in Smith, Gregg counties

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Sales this spring are up in East Texas' two largest counties.

According to numbers released by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts -- May sales tax receipts were up at least five percent for cities in Gregg and Smith counties.

June sales tax rebates reflect retail sales for the month of April.

County:  May Rebate;  Pct. Change

Smith County:  $3,177,948;  8.9%

Gregg County:  $3,335,877;  5.5%

Angelina County: $1,074,544; 4.7%

Nacogdoches County: $405,131;  -9.9%

Henderson County:  $788,080;  -0.9%

Cherokee County: $305,274;  -0.4%

Rusk County:  $455,499;  4.9%

Wood County:  $275,538;  2.7%

Upshur County:  $153,621;  -3.0%

Harrison County:  $625,550;  6.4%

Anderson County:   $494,381;  2.1%
