Posted: Updated:

(CNN) - Yahoo! is the latest major tech company to disclose the number of requests from US authorities for user data.

The company says it got between 12,000  and 13,000 requests from last December 1st to May 31st of this year.

Yahoo! said the requests included criminal and foreign intelligence surveillance act requests.

The company said the most common requests concerned fraud, homicides, kidnappings and other criminal investigations.

Apple, Facebook and Microsoft released similar information over the last several days.

(CNN) - Samsung's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4 could get a major upgrade.

The South Korean electronics company plans to release a quicker version of the Galaxy S4, which Samsung says will be up to twice as fast as current 4g LTE connections.

Sales of the S4 outpaced the S3, which emerged as the Android system's most successful rival to the iPhone.
