Web Exclusive: Chrysler expected to respond to calls for SUV recall

Posted: Updated:

(CBS/CNN) - Chrysler is expected to explain why its refusing to recall more than 2.5 million jeep SUVs.  The National Highway Traffic Safety administration says 51 people have suffered fiery deaths in Jeep Grand Cherokees and Libertys.  The agency claims the gas tanks are mounted behind the rear axle and that puts the vehicles at risk for fire in rear-end collisions.  Chrysler is expected to say the jeeps meet all federal safety standards.

The maker of the "Nap Nanny" and "Nap Nanny Chill" are recalling all models.  The popular infant recliner and covers can be dangerous, even deadly.  There have been five deaths involving the recliners and 92 reports of infants hanging or falling over the side. The consumer product safety commission says stop using it immediately.

An annual survey of travelers shows passenger satisfaction with U.S. airlines rose more than three percent this year.  The American Customer satisfaction index survey found U.S. airlines scored 67 out of 100, up from a score of 65 two years ago.  It's the best showing in a decade, but the score is still low compared to other industries.  In fact, airlines finished in the bottom three out of the 47 industries polled.  It's only above newspapers and pay TV services like cable and satellite.  As for some of the individual U.S. airlines: jetBlue led the pack with 81, followed by Southwest with 77.

A big coup for Antefix.  Starting next year they'll to join forces with Dreamworks.  The agreement is said to include 300 hours of new TV episodes.  The deal will help Netflix compete with premium channels like HBO and Showtime.
