UPDATE: Bake sale in Tyler Saturday to benefit father fighting to save daughters from Russian orphanage

UPDATE: Royce Sigler, the East Texas native who is flying to Russia next week to reunite with his daughters, said a bake sale is being organized in Tyler this weekend.

Sigler's sister is holding the sale at Blake Furniture, 620 SSE Loop 323 in Tyler, on Saturday. A receptionist at the store said permission for the bake sale was granted Thursday.

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - An Ohio man from Longview is in a desperate race against time to save his two young daughters from a Russian orphanage.

Royce Sigler had full custody of his daughters -- Tanya and Ksenya -- when they were abducted by their mother and taken to Sochi, Russia.

Sigler hasn't seen his daughters since, but today, he got a copy of his ex-wife's death certificate from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Now Sigler has one to two months to go to Russia and get his daughters, who are living with their grandmother in a one-bedroom apartment.

If he doesn't, the Embassy says the children will be placed in an orphanage.

"My daughters were born in Dallas, Texas," Sigler said by phone from his home in Canton, Ohio. "They are United States citizens, there's no question about that. But because Russia has such animosity towards the U.S. about adopting their children, that they would have animosity towards an American father trying to get his daughters."

Sigler and his brothers and sisters, who attended Spring Hill schools in Longview, have created a Facebook page called Support 4 the Sigler Sisters to raise awareness about the family's plight.

In one week, Sigler has raised almost all of the 15-thousand dollars he says he needs for round-trip airfare and attorney fees.

His wants his daughters home in the U.S. by July 4.
