6 Arrested in Shelby County on Drug/ Gun Violations

(KYTX) - Beaumont, Texas is serving justice today. Attorney John M. Bales announced that six Texas residents have pleaded guilty to gun and drug violations.

One of these men, Lester Earl Pitts, 48,  was a former peace officer for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. During his service Pitts provided and sold guns to Lakeva Shillette Hill,35, Vincent Jermaine Lathan, 36, Cornelius Vansharles Gray, 36, Anthony Gene Chumbley, 46, and Andrae Demarkqudell Pegues,33. He was aware that all of these men where felons or associated with drug trafficking. All of these men face 5 to 20 years in federal prison. 

Sentencing dates have not been set yet. 

This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Center Police Department, and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John B. Ross.
