Longview woman jailed for DWI with 10-year-old passenger

Posted: Updated:

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A 33-year-old Longview woman remains in jail tonight, after a state trooper said she was caught driving drunk Saturday with marijuana and a 10-year-old child in her vehicle.

According to court documents, DPS Trooper John L. Smith III observed a GMC Yukon - driven by Jabina Janie Martinez - change lanes unsafely and nearly strike another vehicle as it traveled south on Estes Parkway just before 11 Saturday night. After stopping the Yukon at a restaurant parking lot, Smith walked up to the driver's side window. Martinez opened her door, and a marijuana joint fell from her lap onto the ground, according to records from Gregg County's Precinct 1 Justice Court.

Smith also found an open 32-ounce can of beer, a bag of marijuana and rolling papers in the Yukon, according to records.

Martinez is in the Gregg County Jail on $6,100 bond, charged with DWI with a child passenger, marijuana possession and a warrant for forfeiting her bond on an outstanding marijuana possession charge. She is also being held on 16 other warrants totaling $7,300.
