UPDATE: Hours after convicting Dennis Ray Freeman of attempted sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, a jury sentenced him to life in prison on both offenses.

At prosecutors' request, Gregg County 124th District Judge Alfonso Charles ordered that Freeman serve both sentences consecutively. Freeman must serve at least 30 years on the attempted sexual assault conviction, and 15 years on the indecency conviction, before he is eligible for parole.

Assistant District Attorney Pamela Ibeh asked that Freeman's punishment be enhanced - from up to 20 years, to between 25 and 99 years or life in prison on both convictions - because Freeman had previous felony convictions.

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - A jury in Gregg County's 124th District Court deliberated for more than a hour before finding 48-year-old Dennis Ray Freeman guilty of attempted sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

Freeman faces up to life in prison for indecency with a child and attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child.

He was not found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The punishment phase starts about 2:30 p.m.
