Tyler Public Library offers summer programs for young adults

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX)- The Tyler Public Library is encouraging teens to get up off the couch this summer. On Thursday at 2p.m.  "Teens & Tweens" will take place at the Tyler Public Library. The Teens and Tweens program is a weekly program throughout the summer designed for students who have completed fifth grade through high school.

There will be duct tape creativity project on Friday at 10:30a.m.

"We all know that Duct Tape can fix anything, so why not use it to create things?" said Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray. "A few of our projects include wallets, flowers and bracelets, using a variety of colored tape for added fun."

The library will also be receiving a visit on Friday from Southwest Dairy Farmers® Mobile Dairy Classroom. These events are free admission but "Teens & Tweens" does require registration on the Tyler Library's web site. Southwest Dairy Farmers® will teach the public about the dairy industry.

"This is a really unique program, since a live cow will be part of it," said Gray. "This will be exciting for our children to see up close, and to be reminded of how dairy is a big part of their day-to-day lives."

Southwest Dairy Farmers® shows are designed for children age 6 and up, but they are welcoming all to attend. Children age 12 and under must have an adult present with them at all times.

For more information about the "Dig Into Reading" Summer Reading Club visit the library's web site www.TylerLibary.com or call (903) 593-READ (7323).
