Tyler, TX (KYTX) -- Governor Perry has called another special session to take up the controversial abortion bill Sen. Wendy Davis attempted to filibuster Tuesday evening. Chaos at the Capitol kept the vote from making deadline anyway.

State representative Bryan Hughes says he was near the action, and couldn't hear what was being said.

"This is my sixth term in the House, and I've never seen anything like it. Free speech is one thing, but what we saw last night was people yelling obscenities," Hughes said.

Hughes, who supports the bill, thinks it will eventually pass.

"This bill says at 5 months, the point we know the baby can feel pain, we're going to protect that child from abortion," Hughes said.

Some East Texans are celebrating.

"Wendy Davis stood up for millions and millions of Texas women to have the right to do what they believe it necessary. It is unbelievable in this day and age, we're still fighting that battle," D. Karen Wilkerson, with the State Democratic Executive Committee, said.

Local lawmakers say the bill wasn't given enough time.

"If we had 4 weeks to do this, it would have passed easily. There will be another opportunity," Sen. Kevin Eltife, R-Tyler, said.

And it looks like that opportunity is coming soon. The special session will begin on July 1st.
