Van Zandt Co. Constables Pct.4:

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - On Friday June 21, 2013 in the early morning hours, the well-known Shed Café in Edom, Texas was broken into. Only the business office was targeted by person or persons that investigators briefly believed were professional thieves with inside connections. However, Deputies with the Van Zandt Co Sheriff's Office, and the Van Zandt Co Constable's Office in Pct.4 quickly realized the suspects had made a critical error, and were just common crooks despite their arguably thought out approach to this crime. They had left behind not only plenty of physical evidence linking them to the crime, but also a debit card belonging to one of these two career criminals. This critical oversight brought Constable Pat Jordan and Sheriff's Investigator Ricky Willis directly to their Chandler area door step.

The joint investigation led Jordan and Willis to three East Texas counties and many hours behind the wheel running down leads and interviewing additional persons of interest. In the end the father and son mini crime wave of Richard W. Blankenship, Sr., 69 of Chandler and his son Jeffery, 42, of Valley View, Texas have been charged in the burglary. The elder Blankenship is currently in the Henderson Co. Jail on unrelated charges and will be transferred to the Van Zandt Co. Jail once his Henderson Co. case is resolved. Jeffrey Dwayne Blankenship at the time of this press release is still at large and is actively avoiding Law Enforcement Officials. If you have information regarding Jeffery Blankenship's whereabouts, please contact the Van Zandt Co. Sheriff's Office at 903-567-4133

Constable Jordan & Sheriff Ray would like to Thank Deputy Jake Smith & Investigator Willis for their continuing hard work on this case.

Sheriff Ray Quote; "We are always excited to work with our law enforcement partners in Van Zandt County and around East Texas. I would also like to personally thank the Noonday Fire Dept. for their assistance in recovering evidence on Lake Palestine today."
