UPDATE: Dive crews recover second boat from fatal accident

UPDATE: WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - Game wardens tell CBS 19 that the second boat involved in Monday's fatal accident has been recovered.

Dive teams finally were able to pull the boat from the bottom of the lake late Tuesday night.

The names of the victims are still not being released. Game wardens confirmed that the 12-year-old boy injured in the wreck is still in critical condition at Dallas Children's Hospital. 

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the collision happened.

Wood County Sheriff's Department:

UPDATE: (KYTX) - At approximately 8:50 p.m. last night, the Wood County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported boat collision near the FM 515 east bridge on Lake Fork. Two boats crashed near the Coffee Creek area which resulted in the death of two men and the serious injury of a 12-year-old child.

The child was transported to Children's Hospital in Dallas. No names of those involved are being released. The sheriff's office is assisting the Texas Parks and Wildlife with the investigation.

 


UPDATE: WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Quint Balkcom tells CBS 19 two adults were killed in Monday night's boating accident on Lake Fork.

One child is in critical condition and was transported by helicopter from the scene to Dallas Children's Hospital. He says two boats collided in boat lanes marked by buoys near 515 bridge. Both drivers died from their injuries.

One of the boats involved sank at the scene and will be raised with specialized lift bags and then towed to shore for further investigation.

According to a press release from Texas Parks & Wildlife, Game Wardens activated their statewide Dive Team and Accident Reconstruction Team. Game Wardens are working with the Wood County Sheriff's Department.

Names of the people involved are not being released until next of kin have been notified.

 
More information will be released later today as crews continue to investigate what happened.

WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - One person is flown to a Tyler hospital following an accident in Wood County. It happened last night on Lake Fork near a bridge on County Road 515.

We don't know any details surrounding the accident.
