We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KYTX) - Van Zandt County deputies continue looking for a man they say is armed and dangerous.

As we told you, they believe he was involved in a shooting near Grand Saline Tuesday.

It happened about a mile north of grand saline on FM 17.

People who live around here say it's a quiet community and they're surprised, but some have mixed feelings on that.

Joseph Gilpin lives off of FM 17, not far from where the shooting happened Tuesday.

His friends called him after they heard what happened.

"He called me yesterday to make sure I wasn't the one who was shot. Cause didn't know who was at the time," says Gilpin.

Van Zandt County investigators say 31-year-old William Honea was involved in the shooting sending one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

His identity is not being released.

Gilpin isn't surprised saying there isn't much police presence in the area.

"Never see patrol, only when hear sirens, or see them flying by doing 100. You know they're going out on a call," says Gilpin.

"Very scary. I mean, I live by myself and I'm very scared," says Paulette Luckett who's lived near Grand Saline for more than 20 years.

Luckett sees it differently.

"Everybody kind of knows everybody," says Luckett.

Luckett hadn't heard about the shooting until Wednesday afternoon, well after investigators say honea had gotten away, and could have a gun.

Now she says she's checking all of her locks, and telling her family to do the same.

"Because rarely, this doesn't happen out here. Too small a community," says Luckett.

"Really, if I needed help, the best thing I can do is call my friends around here," says Gilpin.

Van Zandt County deputies say you should be cautious if you see Honea, he's likely armed and dangerous.

And he could also be with 25-year-old Cortney Summerlin.

They both have charges out of Wood County.

Investigators say the two could be in one of three vehicles: a black Chevrolet truck, a white 2005 Ford F-150 or a gold dually.

If you have any information on Honea or Summerlin, call police.
