Children are a Gift:Darius, Tilia, Deuntaye, and Derion

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) – Four siblings wait eagerly to ride the Texas State Railroad in Rusk, Texas. Once on board, these children were giddy with excitement.

"This train ride is real good. I mean awesome!" said Darius holding up two thumbs of approval.

Darius is 8-years-old and the big brother. "As the oldest, he feels it's his job to take care of his younger siblings," said Ashley Gipson with Child Protective Services.

Tilia is the only girl in this sibling group. She's 7-years-old, quiet and soft-spoken. This smart 2nd-grader especially likes math. "I like to go to school. School is so fun!" she said.

"Tilia is my little diva. She wants to be matching from head to toe. She always feels she should have a bow in her hair. She's a sweet little girl," explains Gipson.

Next in line is Deuntaye. He's 6-years-old. "I like red power rangers," he shouted with a big smile.

Gipson said, "He's the comedian of the group and loves to keep you laughing."

And the baby of the bunch is an adorable and bright 4-year-old named Derion.

"He's used to having his way. He's used to everybody doing things for him," said Gipson.

These siblings have spent the past year and a half in foster care. The one thing they all want is to be adopted together.

"Because they love me and I love them. They are so sweet," said Tilia about her brothers. Deuntaye adds, "Yes, I want to stay with them!"

These children continue to struggle with closure and moving on with a new family. "Darius knows we are looking for him a new mom and dad that's going to adopt him and his siblings. He's excited about it." Gipson goes on to say, "Even though he's excited, he's still fearful of the unknown."

These siblings will need a lot of structure and guidance, as well as a strong male role model for the boys. Gipson said, "The biggest challenge will be the ability to keep up with them when they are together. They have a tendency to feed off of each other."

As these children savor every moment of their train ride, they anxiously await their next adventure and hope it will include a forever family.
