TYLER (KYTX) - In the past few months we've seen unseasonable cold and hot temperatures, and even rain in recent day.

However, experts say, we shouldn't get too excited about it, this most likely is just another shift in the ever changing weather patterns.

It's a commom saying among farmers.

"The less you have to depend on the weather the better," said Dennis Oefinger. He owns "the Veggie Stand"

He grows it all, from peaches to tomatoes to watermelons. And with the changing weather temperatures and conditions he's had some farming struggles.

"This past season, things got off to a late start because of the freezes and frost," he said.

In the past few days parts of east Texas saw about 2-3 inches of rain. With the fear of a possible burn ban and summer drought, the question is: Is that enough to change the state of things.

"It's having temporary relief of the drought conditions.but it's not the solution that we are looking for," said CBS 19's Chief Meteorologist John Adams.

He said we'll need about 12-18 more inches of rain to really do any good.

"It would be nice to see it come every three to four days to see us caught up because we've got to do a lot of catching up."

Oefinger doesn't rely too much on the rain.

"Well it depends on the farmer, ourselves we irrigate primarily with well water."

However, he says it does help keep humidity where it should be.
