Inside Fraud Blamed For Blasts That Killed Several U.S. Troops

Inside fraud in Afghanistan is being blamed for explosions that killed several U.S. soldiers.

It's outlined in a report released Tuesday by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction.

It says two Afghan contractors accepted $1 million from the U.S. government to put up barriers to protect troops from IED blasts but never installed them or installed them improperly.

It was part of a $32 million effort to seal off underground pipelines often used for hiding homemade bombs.

The two Afghan Contractors are now charged with fraud and negligible homicide.
