We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

HENDERSON COUNTY (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - James Howard Dotson III remains hospitalized in Tyler this morning after suffering a gunshot wound Wednesday.

Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt says his agency will be arresting Dotson as soon as he is released on bevy of charges for storming into a house in Mabank and kidnapping his girlfriend at gunpooint.

Nutt said his agency responded to a shots fired call 164 Sunray St. in Cherokee Shores near Mabank about 2:40 p.m. They discovered Dotson, 40, had suffered a blast from a shotgun fired by his girlfriend's brother, 33-year-old Michael Jennings.

Nutt said the investigation showed Dotson physically broke into the house and kidnapped his girlfriend at gunpoint and forced her into a vehicle which fled the scene.

Nutt said as Dotson was leaving the area, Jennings fired a warning shot at the man, but the car continued away from the area.

"I don't know why, but Dotson returned back to the house twice and the last time he got out and made an offensive move and Jennings shot him," he said.

Nutt said Dotson was flown to Tyler, where he was being treated for the wounds. Nutt did not know his condition this morning.

Nutt said as the investigation continued, deputies arrested Jennings on the charge of possessing an illegal firearm, a shortened-barrel shotgun.

"We just couldn't overlook that he had an illegal firearm. But it appears at this time the shooting is going to be justified, so I don't expect any more charges against him," he said.

However, Nutt said arrest warrants have been secured for Dotson on three counts of aggravated assault, one unlawful restraint, one count of a felon in possession of a firearm, and burglary of a habitation. Dotson could also be charged with aggravated kidnapping.

"We threw the book at him, and as soon as he is able to walk, then we will be heading to Tyler to arrest him," he said.

The Henderson County Judicial site indicates Dostson has been arrested on multiple charges in the past, including aggravated assault, burglary and assault.
