HOUSTON (KHOU) — Authorities have tracked down the man they say brutally attacked a dog and set its body on fire in a north Harris County sewer.

Jacob Davis, 27, was charged with animal cruelty.

Davis allegedly set the dog on fire in the sewer at the intersection of Ella Crossing and Burnell Oaks Lane on July 13. A neighbor's surveillance camera was rolling when it happened.

The video shows a man pulling up in a dark sedan near the sewer and walking back and forth from his car to the sewer for about four minutes. That's when he lit the dog on fire. A necropsy performed at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory found the dog had been stabbed several times before it was burned.

"This was a joint investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the Houston SPCA and the Harris County District Attorney's Office," said Lt. Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.

Davis was arrested Tuesday.
