Wounded Warriors Get A Thank You

Posted: Updated:

(KCEN) -- Soldiers wounded at war got a special thank you Friday in Copperas Cove.

The American Red Cross's "Service To Armed Forces Division" teamed up with the wounded warriors project to host family fun day.

The event was free of charge for wounded soldiers their caregivers and families.

The American Red Cross received over 1,200 RSVP's.

Mary Basiliere, the director of the event, says it's just their way of reminding these troops that their service is not forgotten and they are still appreciated.

"This particular event when we do it gives them a chance to do no work at all, just come out and have fun, meet their fellow soldiers and family members. People who are the in the same situation they are," says Basiliere.

The American Red Cross is looking to make this an annual event.
