Rock Hill Baptist Church holds grand reopening of new church home

BROWNSORO (KYTX) -  Rock Hill Baptist Church has been a staple in the community for 155 years.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey visited the church for their grand re-opening to see how the church hopes this move will take them through another 155 years.

It was more than a full house as the Rock Hill Baptist Church opened the doors to their 400,000 square foot church.

With such a large turnout, Senior Pastor Robert Welch jokingly said, "I don't know if we've built it big enough."

What started with a few people in 1858 has grown by the hundreds. For the first time since then, the congregation will hold service on a different piece of land.

Even so Welch said the principals of God and faith will stay the same.

"The works not done yet and their some many more people to be reached," said Welch.

The service for the grand opening of the church was only the second time husband and wife Devon and Maco Eaves have visited the church.

"The feeling was great I felt welcomed everyone smiled and made me feel like I was at home," said Mrs. Eaves.

After experiencing hard times in life, the welcome she felt was just what she needed.

So she decided to get baptized.
"Just a lot of pride," is what her husband felt seeing his wife take a step to get closer to God and truly join the century and a half old church family that has given so much to the congregation.

"God's given us so much I think it's time for us to give back," said Mr. Eaves.

Welch said the Rock Hill family looks forward to the future.
