Doctor, office manager arrested after medical office raid in Tyler

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: A doctor and his office manager are arrested at the American Medical Center on 212 Old Grande Boulevard Suite 120.

DPS regulatory agents and DEA agents acted on a tip of improper distribution of medication.

Gregory Terrell, 53, and Melissa York, 48, have been arrested. Dr. Terrell is charged with Diversion of a Controlled Substance by registrant. York is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance by Fraud. Both are third degree felonies.

Around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, the agents arrived at the medical office to act on a warrant.  Terrell voluntarily surrendered both state and federal registrations to handle controlled substances.

The Texas Medical Board lists Terrell's primary specialty as emergency medicine, with a secondary specialty of urgent care.

We checked and reps with the Texas Medical Board say his medical license is still active and a discipline hearing would have to happen before any action is taken.

Terrell graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and doesn't have any major past violations.

The investigation is still ongoing and more charges could be filed.
