Health Alert: New App for food allergies

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - A Pennsylvania girl who received two double lung transplants earlier this summer appears to be recovering well.

The mother of Sarah Murnaghan's wrote on Facebook that her ten year old daughter will be moved out of intensive care and into to a progressive care unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The family had to battle in court so Sarah could be eligible for adult lungs.

The first pair failed, but she received a second set three days later.

(CBS) - Government health officials say almost all kindergarteners are up-to-date on their vaccines, but some states are falling behind.

The highest vaccination rate is in Mississippi where 99.9 percent of kindergartners have received their shots. Colorado is the lowest at 83 percent.

The Centers for Disease Control's goal is 95 percent or higher.

(CBS) - There may soon be a new App for people with food allergies.

Researchers at the University of Illinois are developing a biosensor to connect to a smartphone.

The sensor can detect toxins, bacteria and allergens in food.
