Texas Spine & Joint Hospital Receives Highest Ranking on Surgical Safety

Posted: Updated:

TYLER (KYTX) - Texas Spine and Joint Hospital received the highest possible rating from Consumer Reports in a study published July 31, 2013. The study evaluated patient outcomes for routinely scheduled surgeries such as spine procedures and knee and hip replacement. The study compares how hospitals avoid adverse events in Medicare patients during their hospital stay for surgery.

Texas Spine and Joint Hospital is one of only 18 hospitals in Texas to receive the top rating. "We have a continuous commitment to quality outcomes and patient safety," said Tony Wahl, CEO. "Our physicians and staff are experts in the procedures performed here, and patient safety is our top priority," added Wahl.

Texas Spine & Joint Hospital is a privately owned hospital specializing in orthopedic and spine surgery, procedures, and tests. TSJH includes a twenty bed acute care hospital, an outpatient surgery center, urgent care center, and satellite clinic. With a total medical staff of over 196, TSJH employs 300 full and part time employees and performed over 30,000 procedures and tests in 2011. With a focus on patient-centered care in a specialized environment, TSJH ranks in the 99th percentile nationally for patient satisfaction according to Press Ganey Associates survey data.
