LUFKIN -

ANGELINA CO. (KYTX) - A manhunt is underway for a Lufkin man accused in an Angelina County double murder.

It happened just before midnight at 147 Charlton. Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches says 39- year old Kevin Jabbar McKelvey was waiting at the home of his ex-girlfriend when Cashuanika Hoyle and her mother Teresa Hoyle arrived.

The daughter walked in the home and that's when investigators say she was shot and killed by McKelvey. Sheriff Sanches says Teresa Hoyle ran back to the car to protect 2 other children in the car and jumped in with the man who was driving.

Investigators say she was not able to escape before McKelvey shot through the passenger window, killing Hoyle. The driver of the car took Hoyle to the hospital about 11:57 p.m. where she was pronounced dead.

A search is now underway for McKelvey. He is possibly driving a 1994 Chevrolet pick-up in a primer color. License plate #AD84840.

He is believed to have a 30-30 rifle. Call the Angelina County Sheriff's Office with any information at (936) 634-3332.
