New K9 joins Wood County Sheriff's Office

WOOD COUNTY (KYTX) - The Wood County Sheriff's Office has a new member to the team. His name is Copper, and he's a bloodhound puppy.

Copper, the rookie K9 cop is only eight-weeks-old.

Before Copper can work as a member of  the search and rescue team, he will have to undergo extensive training.

Copper's job will mainly consist of find lost children and tracking "the bad guys."

Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown said Copper will be a "major asset that will benefit the entire area". He said "if just one child or elderly person is saved, the program will be worth all of the effort".
