Health Alert: Bird flu possibly contagious in humans

Posted: Updated:

(CBS) - A new form of bird flu may be able to spread between people.

Doctors suspect a young girl in Eastern China caught the H-7 N-9 virus from her father earlier this year.

It would be the first reported case of human to human transmission with this strain.

Until now people only caught the virus from infected birds.

(CBS) - Obesity rates are actually dropping among some children.

The Centers for Disease Control says for the first time in decades, obesity rates for low income preschoolers fell slightly in 18 states.

(CBS) - Researchers now say the average pregnancy may not be 40 weeks.

Doctors at the national institutes of health followed more than 125 pregnant women and found the actual average is just over 38 weeks.

Researchers stress this is just an average. Due dates among the women in the study varied widely, even up to five weeks in some cases.
