GLADEWATER/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - A Gladewater Fire Department lieutenant is in the Gregg County Jail this afternoon charged with assault/family violence and interfering with an emergency call.

Sunday morning before 9, Gladewater Police Department responded to a disturbance call that was made by the victim's mother.

William Todd Orendorff, 42, was reported to have harmed his girlfriend and then prevented her from making a 911 call by hanging up the phone.

Gregg County Jail records show Orendorff was arrested by Gladewater police on Sunday and is being held on $2,000 bond.

"We are in the same building and we work together. I don't show any favoritism toward anybody," says Chief Farrell Alexander.

"He has to follow the law like anyone else, but this was a tough decision."

He was also issued a 31 day protective order.
