City of Tyler:

TYLER (KYTX) - Liberty Hall will have its first annual battle of the bands Saturday called Rock, Paper, Scissors. Four bands have been selected to perform for 30 minutes each. The line-up is as follows: StillBent; Struck By Hammerz; Blacktop Mojo and Westbound 21.

These top four bands will get the chance to play live before a panel of judges from the music industry and a live audience who select the winner.

Celebrity judges are Gina McClung of Kyser Musical Products (and our “Rock, Paper, Scissors” sponsor), Jammin' Jimmy Olson, who headed up the Morning Show for Waller Broadcasting for four years, and is now vice president of operations, as well as a top sales associate at KMPA radio. The third judge is Paul R. Bibeau, a record industry executive with twenty years of senior managerial, A & R (artist and repertoire), marketing, product management, promotion and public relations expertise. Bibeau has signed worldwide exclusive recording agreements, acquired historic music catalogs and compositions for publishing affiliates, overseen the A&R creative process and created marketing plans for numerous amazing talent including: Anthrax, Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde/Ozzy Osbourne), Common, Deep Purple, Peter Frampton, Government Mule (Allmann Bros.), Ted Nugent and Twisted Sister.

Each band invited to play at Liberty will receive a professional video recording of their performance that can be used for marketing their band. The winner will also receive a slot to perform at the East Texas All Star Showcase on Sept. 7.

Additionally, Kyser® Musical Products out of Canton, Texas is sponsoring a $500 cash prize for the winner and second place prize of $300. Kyser® is the only guitar capo that is still made entirely by hand, right here in East Texas

In the initial round of judging, there was a great response from local bands. Seven were selected to go on to the Facebook vote to determine the four favorites.

We have metal, country, blues and rock, said Payne. Most music styles are represented in these entries and they are all very talented.

Tickets to the Aug. 17 show are on sale now at www.LibertyTyler.com for $8. Tickets will be available the night of the event for $15 at the door.
