(KYTX) - Police and firefighters found a Ford pickup on fire behind a mobile home dealership on South Medford Dr. around 1 this morning

This is a photo taken by one of the people who works at the mobile home business before the truck was hauled away.

Investigators spent several hours after measuring the scene and they got a break in identifying the truck late this afternoon.

"We were assisted by dps in locating other vins on the vehicle and that owner has been identified and that family has been contacted but that's all I can say about that at this point."

The body was sent to Beaumont for an autopsy.

Lufkin police don't expect to get the results for several weeks.

Lufkin Police Department:

UPDATE: (KYTX) - Lufkin Police Department is investigating a vehicle fire that occurred overnight.
At approximately 1 a.m. today, August 14, 2013, Lufkin Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a burning vehicle behind First Church of the Nazarene, located at 1604 South Medford Drive in Lufkin.

Responding Lufkin Police Department officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Renfro Drive and Valley Avenue; the vehicle was off the roadway, on a dirt drive leading to the rear of a manufactured housing business.
Upon approaching the still burning vehicle, the officers saw a burned body in the remains of the vehicle.

The body was too burned for the officers to determine its identity or verify its gender. Initially, the flames and resulting fire damage made difficult the task of identifying the vehicle, the license plates and dash VIN plate were unreadable, but, after Lufkin Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire, the officers determined that the vehicle was a Ford F150 truck.

At this time, the identity of the body found in the vehicle, the cause of death, and the time of death are not known. An autopsy will be performed today to determine the cause of death. DNA testing will be used to determine the identity of the body. Lufkin Police Department does not expect to receive the results of the autopsy and testing for several weeks.
No additional information is available at this time.

Anyone with information concerning the fire or death can provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers of Lufkin at (936) 639-TIPS or by submitting an anonymous tip at www.LufkinCrimeStoppers.com. Crime Stoppers Tipsters never have to give their name and Crime Stoppers may pay a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest related to this incident.
