Troup Police Department receives new Tahoe to help fight crime

Posted: Updated:

TROUP (KYTX) - A new set of wheels is hitting the streets in Troup to help fight crime. Troup's Police Department was handed the keys Wednesday to a 2013 Chevy Tahoe to be used as the new crime scene unit.

District Attorney Matt Bingham's office donated it using seized drug money.

Troup's Police Chief  Pat Hendrix says the old vehicle that was used for investigations broke down, so this new addition makes a big difference.

"It's going to help us, our investigator, go out to the scene have all the crime scene equipment with him at the time, process the crime scene in a vehicle that actually operates,"Hendrix said.

Hendrix says they've never been able to designate one vehicle as the crime scene unit before because of budget restraints and the department is in much better shape than when he first took office in 2006.
