Health Alert: Obesity related deaths on the rise

(CBS) - A new study finds one in five Americans die from obesity, which is nearly three times higher than previous estimates.

Researchers at Columbia University say the number of obesity related deaths will increase if more isn't done to address the problem.

Doctors say once people become obese it is very difficult to reverse.



(CBS) - There's another reason to eat healthy.

Doctors at the national institutes of health say it reduces your chances of developing pancreatic cancer.

A study of more than 23 hundred pancreatic cancer patients found a 15 percent lower risk of developing the disease among people who received high scores in a test that measures healthy eating. 



(CBS) - Researchers say the more soda a child drinks the more likely they are to become violent. 

A Columbia University study found 5-year-olds who drink four or more soft drinks a day are twice as likely to get into fights and attack people.

Doctors say soda may also increase attention problems.
