TYLER (KYTX) - No Baby Leave Your Socks On, is the title for the first all women's National Cross fit competition. Saturday, Texas women sweated it out to qualify for a national spot.

CBS 19's Katiera Winfrey went to the event and explains why athletes are proud to be cross fit competitors.

There's plenty of long colorful socks and rippling muscles at the first national all women's cross fit competition.

"Cross fit oh, so much fun," said competitor Faith Cook.

Amy Chesley, owns Crossfit Tyler, where the event was held. She said socks aren't mandatory, nor will they make competitors perform better, but they're cute.

"Crossfit is about having fun while you work out so we're just trying to be creative," said Chesley.

Crossfit competitors all across the country took part in this event in their respective states, as was the case in east Texas.

"100 athletes women from all over, some from the Tyler area. Nacogdoches, Lufkin Longview Houston ,Foreny fort worth," said Chesley.

The women lifted weights and went through a string of other challenging physical exercise testing form and time completed, in an effort to place high on the leader board.

"It's a feeling like no other, you just have to get in a place where you're comfortable and you can push yourself," said Cooke.

Those with the highest scores will qualify to place nationally among all the many other women across the country.
