Russian government halts visa of man trying to rescue kidnapped daughters

Posted: Updated:

(KYTX) -  A Longview native whose daughters were kidnapped in Russia said his visa to return to the country is two weeks late.

Royce Sigler expected his extended visa August 5, but he said the Russian government has halted visas since it gave asylum to U.S. Defector Edward Snowden.

Sigler is trying to reunite with 11-year-old Tanya and 9-year-old Ksenya, who were kidnapped by their mother five years ago and by the grandmother last month.

"I'm extremely disappointed in the help I've gotten from the United States government.
I talk to the state department and they keep telling me it's a custody issue. And I'm like, no, it was a custody issue five years ago. Since the mother passed away, it's not a custody issue, it's a kidnapping."

Sigler wanted to have his daughters home by July 10. Now he's hoping to have them home before Christmas.
