Smith Co. man on death row gets another reprieve

(KYTX) -  A Smith County man who got the death penalty 13 years ago gets another reprieve.

Troy Clark, 45, killed Christina Muse, 20, back in 1998.

Clark was supposed to  have his execution scheduled today after the supreme court refused to hear his case. But his attorneys brought up a new supreme court ruling that ultimately won him another chance.

"Finally have a date set where this family can focus on that and say okay on this date this is going to occur and they came down here believing that was what was going to happen and that didn't happen today."

Clark's execution date would have been 91 days from now.

We don't know how long this new challenge will take.
