LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Longview police are investigating the Feb. 21 death of four-month-old Ja'Kavieonna Javette Elliott.

Gregg County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson said he pronounced the child dead at 12:49 a.m. on Feb. 21 and ordered an autopsy, after Ja'Kavieonna had been brought to Longview Regional Medical Center's emergency room.

According to the autopsy, performed at Forensic Medical of Texas in Tyler, Ja'Kavieonna died of blunt impact to her head. Pathologist Robert E. Lyon determined that the infant suffered a skull fracture and galeal contusions, and there was blunt impact to the torso, including acute rib fractures and rib fractures that were healing, according to the autopsy.

Longview police are not commenting on the investigation but Ja'Kavieonna's death, but it provided no further comment. Neither police nor Jameson have said who brought the child to Longview Regional Medical Center, and obituary and county clerk records did not confirm who were her parents.
