East Texan brings mission work home, sends shoes to Haiti

TYLER (KYTX) -

A Tyler woman is bringing her mission work in Haiti back to the United States and she needs your help to make it happen.

Pam Brower collects shoes to send to Nehemiah Vision Ministries for people who would otherwise be barefoot.

On Friday she received her biggest donation ever--175 pairs--thanks to a woman who turned thirty and decided she wanted to give back.

"I just thought, you know what, that would be really neat to be able to donate to her collection," Laura Romer said. "So I posted it to Facebook and said I'd really like to be able to collect thirty pairs of shoes for my thirtieth birthday and we were able to exceed that expoundingly."

"One pair of shoes will last somebody perhaps three years, and they appreciate everything they get," Brower said. "Just the little things. This will make a monumental difference in their lives."

So far, Brower has sent 102 pairs of shoes to Haiti. She said shipments cost about $60 so she also accepts monetary donations.
