Man arrested in Kaufman Co. for allegedly kidnapping a woman at gunpoint and stealing her car

Kaufman (KYTX) - A traffic stop for reckless driving results in a man being arrested for kidnapping a woman at gunpoint and stealing her car from Dallas.

On August 22, 2013 Kaufman Police officers responded to the area of East Bound Hwy 175 and Hwy 243 for a report of a reckless driver in a silver Lexus. Officers located the vehicle and during the traffic stop discovered an injured female victim in the vehicle. The driver / suspect was identified as Lewis, Charles Atkins Jr. who was detained at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the male suspect had kidnapped the female victim at gunpoint and also stole her Lexus from downtown Dallas, Texas.

Charles Atkins Lewis Jr., 37, was apprehended and turned over to the Dallas Police Department to be charged with Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Kidnapping.

Lewis bond is set for 50,000.00.
