(CNN/CBS) - Good news for workers investing in a retirement plan. Average 401K balances were up more than 10% during the second quarter of this year.
Employees who have consistently stashed cash are even better off. According to Fidelity Investment, workers who have been employed and in a 401K plan for at least 10 years had average balances of $211,800 at the end of June. That's up 19% from a year ago.
JC Penney's largest investor is selling his entire 18% stake in the company. Hedge fund manager William Ackman is dumping his 39 million shares two weeks after he resigned from the board. Ackman clashed with other board members and wanted the struggling retailer to find a new CEO.
If you don't like the name on your Yahoo account -- we've got some good news. Yahoo announced plans to recycle user names that aren't being used any more. The web giant is launching "Watchlist" a service that sends out an email if a username becomes available. For about $2 dollars users can request up to five names. The most sought after names include David , Michael and Alex for men and Maria, Jennifer and Jessica for women.
It looks like the 'National Do Not Call List' isn't working that well. According to the Federal Trade Commission, complaints from consumers on the list are up more than 60% since 2011.
Officials blame the increase in illegal computerized robocalls.
