Fertilizer plant owner in Carthage dispute claims of refusing inspectors

Posted: Updated:

CARTHAGE (KYTX) - The owner of an East Texas fertilizer plant disputes the claim that he refused to give state inspectors permission to inspect his facility.

Anderson Fertilizer and Milling Company located on CR 403 in Carthage was contacted by an agency to conduct a survey. At the time the owner Bob Anderson was unaware that it was a statewide survey being conducted for the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Anderson tells CBS 19 that he didn't feel comfortable releasing information to the agency after they told him it wasn't mandatory.

Anderson Fertilizer and Milling Company has been in business since 1985 and does contain the chemical compound Ammonium Nitrate that is being blamed for the explosion in West, Texas.
