Tyler pharmacist arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child

UPDATE: The Tyler man involved in a standoff has been arrested.

James Prosperie, 73, is arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child according to Tyler Police.

Officers went to Prosperie's home in the 1000 block of Jeff Davis around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday in an attempt to serve a warrant.

Prosperie would not come out of his home. Officers eventually were able to talk him into coming out just after 1 p.m.

Prosperie received his pharmacy degree in 1963 from University of Louisiana Monroe. Neighbors say that Prosperie is the former owner of The Medicine Shoppe on 5th Street in Tyler.

Prosperie remains in the Smith County Jail on a $100,000 bond.


TYLER (KYTX) - A Tyler man is refusing to come out of his home after officers attempted to serve a warrant around noon Tuesday.

Tyler Police Information Officer Don Martin tells CBS 19 that the standoff is on Jeff Davis.
