State parks near Dallas invite families to join a high-tech treasure hunt

(KYTX) - The growing world of geocaching allows families to participate in a high-tech treasure hunt just a short drive from home in state parks.

Geocaching, a new-age take on the classic scavenger hunt, allows for anyone with a smartphone or GPS device, to search for prize-filled containers hidden in Texas state parks.

There are more than 1,074 geocaches to find in more than 90 state parks around Texas.

Many state parks host Geocache 101 workshops to teach anyone the basics.
