PATH Announces Plans for PATH Week 2013 and will present the Gertrude Windsor Award to Mayor Barbara Bass

PATH Week 2013 will be celebrated September 8 – 14th and this year's theme is Past, Present and Future. The week is designed to raise awareness of PATH and the PATH programs helping to change the face of poverty, homelessness and hunger in the community.

Three key events will take place in 2013:

The PATH Prayer Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at 7am, at Glenwood Church of Christ located at the corner of Rice Road and Hollytree Drive in south Tyler. This event will be focused on PATH's heritage as a faith-based community organization. The Prayer Breakfast program will include comments and prayers from several individuals who have direct connections back to the founders of PATH, including M.L. Agnew, Marshall Windsor, John Siburt and C.C. Baker. The public is invited and admission is free.

The Annual PATH Community Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at 12 pm, at Christ Episcopal Church located at 118 South Bois d'Arc in downtown Tyler. This event will be a celebration of PATH's ongoing work in the community. PATH will present awards to community partners who have played a significant role in helping to meet the challenges of serving the economically disadvantaged people of Smith County. The public is encouraged to attend. There will be a $5 charge for the box lunch and reservations are appreciated.

The Annual Philanthropy Celebration will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 6:30 – 9:30 pm, at Willow Brook Country Club. The evening event celebrates the heritage of PATH and the future plans for the organization. Jazz Connections will provide the entertainment. The ticket price is $100 per person and reservations are required.

The highlight of the celebration on the 12th will be the presentation of the prestigious Gertrude Windsor Award to Mayor Barbara Bass. This award is presented to an individual who epitomizes the mission of PATH through words and deeds. "Mayor Bass has not only been a loyal supporter of PATH through the years, she has also consistently used her influence to accomplish the greater good in our community," said Greg Grubb in announcing this year's choice. According to C.C. Baker, winner of the Gertrude Windsor Award in 2011, "Mayor Barbara Bass is a great choice for this award. Barbara is a proven community leader, just like Mrs. Windsor. They have a lot in common, especially the desire to help people find their own way."
