Crockett woman arrested for leaving 3 children in car unattended

CROCKETT (KYTX) - On February 23, 2013 Officers with the Crockett Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Loop 304 (WalMart) in reference to children being left unattended in a vehicle.

An off duty Crockett Police Officer noticed that a car parked next to his vehicle was occupied with several young children and no supervision. The officer contacted dispatch and had them dispatch an on duty officer to WalMart at which time he showed them the vehicle.

The children ranged in age from 3 to 7 years of age and there were a total of three children.

The mother, identified as Maria Espinosa of Crockett was initially arrested and charged with Theft.

A case was later presented to a Houston County Grand Jury and Espinosa was indicted on three counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child.

On September 6, 2013 Officers with the Crockett Police Department located Espinosa; she was at her residence located at 121 Rose Street in Crockett.

Espinosa was transported to the Houston County Jail where she was booked and charged without incident. Espinosa's bond was set at $5000.
