Sales tax revenues nearly double for Gregg County town

LAKEPORT/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts has released tax revenues today for sales rebates in area cities.

Sales tax revenues for one East Texas town doubled, according to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts this morning. In Gregg County, Lakeport's tax rebates for sales in July reached $9,169, which marks a 96.3 percent increase from the same period one year ago, according to the comptroller's monthly report for September.

The September report reflects sales from the month of July.

Voters in Lakeport approved the sale of off-premise beer and wine in the city in November.

Voters in Tatum and Longview had similar votes in May. As a result, sales in Tatum were up 27.5 percent to $25,804. Meanwhile, Longview, which approved off-premise beer and wine sales throughout its entire city last May, enjoyed a 3.56 percent increase in sales tax rebates to $2.37 billion.

Elsewhere in East Texas, Tyler's sales tax rebates for September reached $2.98 billion, marking a 9.26 percent increase.

Gladewater: up 1.29 percent to $86,755

Kilgore: up 7.28 percent to $715,946

White Oak: No change at $72,341.

Henderson: up 12.38 percent to $395,983

Mount Pleasant: down 25.65 percent to $273,730

Gilmer: up 53.55 percent to $155,892

Lindale: up 7.8 percent to $172,620

Whitehouse: down 0.99 percent, to $86,755

Troup: down 13.99 percent, to $25,669
