LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Two buses from two different school districts collided outside a north Longview elementary campus this morning, leaving several students with "bumps and bruises," Longview Independent School District Community Relations Coordinator Adam Holland said.

No one was hospitalized.

Holland said a Spring Hill ISD bus driver had just emptied students at Longview ISD's Johnston-McQueen Elementary School just after 7:30 this morning. The driver told authorities that the brakes on the bus failed as the driver was leaving the campus, forcing the driver to miss their mark in the driveway and hit a Longview ISD bus bringing students to the school.

"It was described to me," Holland said, "it was more like a T-bone (collision). It sounds like it was more than a clip, but the transportation manager didn't describe it as a T-bone."

Holland said he is still getting information, but said emergency medical technicians were on the scene to treat injured students, who have since been taken to their classrooms.

Spring Hill ISD was bringing students to Johnson-McQueen for the Regional Day School for the Deaf, which is held at the Longview ISD campus.
