We live in the South, so some of us may have a Southern accent, but would you consider saying "goodbye" to "howdy, y'all"?
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee was going to offer a speech class for its workers next month to do just that, until it got canceled.

TYLER (KYTX)— On Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 7 p.m., friends and guests will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Discovery Science Place at its annual gala "A Night at the Museum: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Discovery Science Place Foundation.

Guests will enjoy delicious food at Willow Brook Country Club in addition to live music from the Larry Stanley band, dancing, a charity casino, and opportunities to win fabulous gifts.

In what has become a tradition, the gala also has some surprises. Guests could find themselves "blown away" by what's in store and Discovery Science Place CEO Phil Lindsey will draw on his Disney design background to "light things up!"

"I have some things up my sleeve," he said coyly.

Gala chairs, Tom Seale and Connie Seale are excited about the event and the opportunity to help Discovery Science Place again. Connie, who was a member of the Junior League of Tyler when they came up with the idea that would eventually become the museum, is amazed at what the museum has become.

"So many members worked to make Discovery Science Place possible," says Seale. "This event is a celebration of all that Discovery Science Place was, and everything that it will be in the future."

Discovery Science Place remains focused on the future. The board is charged with making the museum one of the best science centers in the country. For the last two years, Discovery Science Place has enjoyed a partnership with the University of Texas at Tyler, which has enhanced it Science, Technology, Engineering and Math educational programs. Discovery Science Place must still raise money for the exhibits and programs that make the museum the wonderful resource that it is. The gala is one of many ways the museum is raising funds to support its mission.

Tickets for "Night at the Museum: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water" are $100 each and can be purchased at Discovery Science Place located at 308 N. Broadway, Tyler, TX 75702. The event will be held at Willow Brook country Club 3205 W. Erwin, Tyler, TX 75702. All proceeds go the Discovery Science Place.
