TJC hosts a night under the stars on Friday

(KYTX) - The Center for Earth & Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College will host a star party beginning at dusk, around 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.

The center is located at 1411 E. Lake St., on the TJC main campus.

This free, public event is held in partnership with the Astronomical Society of East Texas and the TJC Society of Physics Students/American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

"We will have telescopes set up outside starting at dusk, and the show will go on no matter the weather," said center director Dr. Tom Hooten.

Hooten said the science center will also be open to the public for free during the star party, and the live night sky will be projected in the dome theater.

"Origins: The Dawn of Dinosaurs" is the current science center exhibit and features which houses life-size dinosaur models, their mammal-like prey, original fossil wood and volcanic ash. Visitors can explore radiometric dating, evidence of the ancient environment, and clues to the Triassic climate.
